AKHIL AUSTRALIA MARATHI SAMMELAN
The 5th Akhil Australia Marathi Sammelan 2010 website Akhil Australia Sammelan-2010 is now open for the registration for the participation of members.
At the moment, the website has no information yet about group bookings etc, we will keep you up-to-date with any information as and when we get it.
If you are interested in participating in any form as a member of the Adelaide team representing South Australia, please contact Vaiju who is the coordinator for South Australia.

आँडिलैँड् गणेशोत्सव २००८
As with every year, Adelaide Marathi Mandal is hosting the गणेश चतुर्थी (Ganesh Chaturthi) celebrations at the Shri Ganesha Temple this year too. गणेश चतुर्थी attracts the highest number of devotees to the temple every year (nearly a thousand), this year is going to be no different. Organising an event at such a massive scale requires a lot of effort prior-to, during and after the event and your co-operation and involvment will be very much appreciated.
Traditionally, there are various committees looking after different aspects
- प्रसाद वितरण (Food committee), looking after the preparation and distribution of प्रसाद;
- Crowd Control;
- Cleanliness Control;
- भजन committee;
- Donations;

The Big Get-Together!
As all of us are aware, the number of people with Marathi background in Adelaide is steadily increasing over the years. This big get-together is aimed solely as to provide a platform for all of us to meet and interact with the newly arrived migrants and have a cuppa together !
In the formal part of the meeting, we would like to have constructive discussion on
- Ganesh Chaturthi and its planning,
- Diwali celebrations and its planning,
- Incorporating of the Adelaide Marathi Mandal (i.e. Formalizing the Mandal with a constitution, committee etc) and
- Information session on the upcoming exciting Auction of Cricketing Paraphernalia (auction of cricketing gear which once belonged to, hold your breath... Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble and Veerendra Sehwag!)

Pravaahee, mystical journey into dance and music
Marathi Mandal Adelaide proudly presented "Pravaahee", a mystical journey of music and dance.
In "Pravaahee", two young and renowned artists from India, Pushkar Lele and Shambhavi Vaze
together explore the changing facets of North Indian music and dance through Hindustani classical vocal music and kathak.
The duo presented a wide repertoire of Hindustani music comprising
prabandha gaayan, dhrupad, khayal, chatarang, folk music, thumri, tappa, natya sangeet and gazal.
The show included a parallel repertoire of kathak, consisting of a
taal presentation, hori, gat-bhav and tarana.
The artists were accompanied by Chaitanya Kunte on the harmonium and Charudatta Phadke on the tabla.
This event was very well received !

Diwali Celebrations
Ganesh Chaturthi
Ganesh Chaturthi was on the 15th of September, 2007 (Saturday) ! As usual, the Adelaide Marathi Mandal hosted the pooja at the Ganesha Temple Pooja started at 10:30am in the morning. We will put some photos in the photo gallery soon!
Melbourne Cultural Show
The Adelaide Marathi Mandal was recently invited to present a cultural program consisting of the ekaa.nkikaa "ekaa ravivaarchii kahaaNii" and music program "mogaraa phulalaa". Both these were very well received by the appreciative audience of Melbourne. Adelaide Marathi Mandal is greatful to our counterpart,Marathi Mandal of Victoria for their hospitality and giving us an opportunity to present!
